1. What kind of input does the model need?

You submit your STAR response broken into four fields—Situation, Task, Action, and Result—along with job details (company, role, level, and URL). The model uses that structured input to drive its evaluation.

2. How does the AI component evaluate my response?

Our AI evaluates your response across 13 distinct dimensions — including how well you set context, demonstrated impact, and quantified results — using the same standards applied by hiring teams at Amazon and Microsoft. You get specific, actionable feedback on each part of your answer, not just a generic score.

 3. How much feedback will I see?

You'll get 6-8 sentences of narrative feedback for each of the four STAR sections, plus an overall summary highlighting your top strengths, weaknesses, and 3-4 concrete next steps to improve. You'll also see which Company Values your answer demonstrates, a key signal hiring managers look for.

6. What do different score ranges mean?

1–49: Needs Work — Your response is missing key structural elements, specific data, or measurable impact. Use the feedback to rebuild before your next practice round.

50–79: On Track — You've covered the fundamentals but there are gaps that a sharp interviewer would probe. Worth another revision.

80–100: Interview-Ready — Your response demonstrates strong structure, concrete data, and clear impact. This is the bar that impresses hiring managers at top companies.

7. Why might my score fluctuate if I resubmit the exact same answer?

Two factors can cause slight variability between identical submissions.

First, AI models are naturally non-deterministic: even with the same input, the model may weigh certain elements slightly differently each time.

Second, your raw score is calibrated against human-scored reference answers, which can shift your final number by a few points in either direction. In practice, these variations are small and won't move you between score ranges. So if you scored 74 once, you won't suddenly see 85+ on an identical resubmission.

8. If I score just above or below 50, how should I interpret that?

A score around 50 means you've cleared the minimum bar but have clear gaps that a sharp interviewer would likely probe. The most common culprits at this range are thin data points and underdeveloped illustrations. Follow the specific feedback in your report: one focused revision typically moves candidates solidly into the 60s or 70s.

9. How can I move from an “acceptable” (50–79) score into the “great” (80+) range?

The gap between 50-79 and 80+ usually comes down to two things: specificity and impact.

Generic statements about your contributions need to become concrete, quantified results with clear business impact. Follow the detailed feedback in your report; it will call out exactly where your response lacks data, concrete illustrations, or measurable results.

That said, the score reflects the underlying strength of your accomplishment. If the story itself lacks meaningful impact or complexity, there's a ceiling to how far polishing the writing alone will take you. The best STAR responses are built on genuinely strong work; our tool helps you communicate that work as effectively as possible.

10. Does the model account for the specific company or role I’m applying to?

Yes. Your STAR response is evaluated in context with the job title, level, and company you’re targeting. This allows the model to tailor its scoring and feedback based on expectations for the position, especially if you’re applying to companies known for high-bar behavioral interviews like Amazon, Microsoft, or Google.

11. What happens after I hit my monthly STAR submission limit?

Once you've used all your submissions for the month, you'll be prompted to upgrade or wait for your next billing cycle. Your past scores and feedback remain fully accessible on your dashboard and email at any time, so you can keep reviewing and refining your responses even while you wait.
